In my experience with clients having chronic disorders or various diseases including cancer, relaxation and learning coping skills are crucial in the healing process. Through the methods of meditation, guided imagery, breath work and Reiki (energy balancing) clients gain the ability to use these tools to become proactive in their healing experience.
In meditation, various techniques are explained and used in conjunction with breath work, guided imagery and progressive relaxation. Proper breathing methods promote healing and a stronger immune system. Guided imagery is a process of visualizing to help the mind and body. Because radiation and chemotherapy can be quite devastating emotionally and physically to those with cancer, these tools are invaluable.
Reiki or energy balancing is a gentle non-invasive touch used to unblock, move and increase energy. The process is extremely relaxing and quite helpful in relieving stress and anxiety, thereby facilitating the body’s innate capacity to heal.
Over the last seven years being a Reiki Master teacher and practitioner I have had the opportunity to see the positive results of using these methods and tools for healing body, mind and spirit and how it has helped so many people.
As these testimonial suggest, using these available modalities can put us all on a path to better living and healing.
“When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I followed the prescribed treatment from my doctors, but I knew that I also needed something for the fear welling up in me. So, I learned deep breathing exercises which calmed me down. As my chemotherapy began, I studied relaxation techniques. They helped to calm me and eased my nausea. To balance myself, I had Reiki treatments, an indispensable part of my healing. Reiki eased my pain considerably. I believe these combined methods have seen me through and put me in a very good place.”
K.T. Langton
"During out patient surgery the nurses were surprised at my ability to stay calm and how low my pulse and blood pressure were. In large measure I attribute it to my meditation practice with Judy Gepp." V. Zientek
In choosing to become a Reiki Master practitioner after teaching for 20 years, I would never have expected the satisfaction and personal connection to people having to deal with physical pain and emotional problems. It has given me new insight into providing a safe environment, open communication and hopefully enabling my clients to deal with their concerns. Judging from the amount of positive feedback, this road of using complimentary methods and self-healing modalities is one for which they are very grateful.
I certainly feel blessed to have had an opportunity in helping and connecting with the people who have come into my life.
